Josef Viktor Gefäll (* between 1895 and 1898; † July 1916 in Cholm , Russian Empire ) was an Austrian football player in the position of goalkeeper .

biography

Viktor Gefäll grew up as the only son of a widow and successfully passed the high school diploma .

Gefäll emerged from the youth of the Viennese amateur sports club and made his debut on May 16, 1915, debuted in the 1: 2 defeat against Wiener AF as the fourth war goalkeeper after Wilhelm Meisl , Alexander Frey and Miklos Belhazy for the amateur team in the championship . His 12th and last championship appearance was on December 19, 1915 in the 2: 7 defeat against SpC Rudolfshügel . Recruited by the army , Gefäll was seriously wounded on the Russian front in Galicia at the end of June or beginning of July 1916 ; his leg was torn off by a grenade shot . The 18- or 20-year-old cadet aspirant died a few days later (before July 8) in the field hospital in Cholm as a result of his injuries.
