Premich is a district of the Lower Franconian market Burkardroth in the Bad Kissingen district in Bavaria.

Geographical location

Premich is north of Burkardroth. At Premich the Kellersbach and the Kleine Steinach flow together to form the Premich .

The St 2267 runs through Premich and leads west to the St 2290 and east to Steinach an der Saale , a district of Bad Bocklet .

history

Premich was created in 1518 at a time when salt forest areas were preferred to be populated at the beginning of the 16th century. The parish of Premich initially belonged to Steinach with the assistance of the Kreuzberg monastery . In 1692 it was supplemented by Gefäll , Langenleiten , Sandberg and Waldberg , of which Gefäll still exists in the parish of Premich today.

On May 1, 1978 Premich became a district of Burkardroth as part of the municipal reform. In October 1971, surveys and votes had taken place in the villages that were to be incorporated into Burkardroth. Of the 390 votes cast in Premich, 264 were against the incorporation. A merger with the villages of Langenleiten, Sandberg, Schmalwasser and Waldberg (all of the districts of Rhön-Grabfeld ) was preferred . However, an ordinance by the government of Lower Franconia enforced the incorporation into Burkardroth on May 1, 1978.

The Premich sewage treatment plant started operations in 1979. In 1992 and 1996, modernization and expansion measures were carried out on the Premicher street lighting.

Buildings and plants

St. Lawrence Church

The construction time of the Premicher St. Laurentius Church ranged from 1686 to 1692. In 1847 a fire caused severe damage to the church; It was not until 1849 that the financial resources necessary for the repair work were raised. The bells installed in the church in 1850 were melted down in 1918 during the First World War . An extensive renovation of the church took place in 1976.
