history
The place was created in 1689 by the settlement of some people, some of whom had come from today's Burkardrother district of Premich . The place arose along a wide village street. The name of the place is derived from the "long Leite", a piece of territory on a mountain range. This property became state property due to delays in submitting the clearing plan.
The residents of Langenleiten went to church in the mother parish of Premich until Langenleiten got its own church in 1781. The place looked after from Kreuzberg became an independent parish in 1819. The increasing number of believers led to an expansion of the church planned from 1890 and implemented in 1911. The town's school was built in 1820, and a second schooling facility was opened in 1855. A new school building was completed on September 30, 1962. In the 1920s a road connection to Wildflecken was established , via which Langenleiten was connected to the rail network.
After the Second World War , jobs were created for the residents of Langenleiten at the Wildflecken military training area and in the former MUNA barracks; In addition, the place obtained building material from the former localities on the site of the military training area. Due to the military traffic from Wildflecken, a bypass road was created in Langenleiten.
In the years after the war, the life situation in the village changed. The residents were able to send their children to secondary schools in Bad Neustadt an der Saale , which was facilitated by the establishment of the post bus connection Langenleiten - Steinach - Bad Neustadt in 1953. On June 3, 1957, Langenleiten got its first gas station.
On January 1, 1972 Langenleiten became a district of Sandberg as part of the municipal reform .
