The St. Bernhard and St. Nikolaus Chapel (also Bernhardkapelle ) is a small Roman Catholic branch church in the district of Wochern of the Saarland community of Perl . It is a listed monument as a single monument.

history

The origins of the St. Nicholas and St. Bernard Chapel go back to the 15th century. The choir comes from this time. In 1569 the small church was first mentioned in a visit report. In 1789 the current nave and sacristy were built and the choir arch was then broken through. Another renovation took place in 1816 and the church got its roof turret. From 1993 to 1996 the chapel was extensively renovated and restored both inside and out.

architecture

The small hall with a rectangular choir is covered by a steep and deep roof on which a slate roof turret with a high pointed hood is enthroned. In the east wall of the choir there is a two-part Gothic tracery window . The ribbed vault is supported by narrow services without capitals . The hand of God can be seen in the keystone .

The stone altar was made in the neo-Gothic style.

The figures of St. Sebastian and St. Nikolaus on the choir wall date from the late Gothic period and were restored in 1996. In addition, there are wooden figures of Our Lady with Child and St. Bernhard from the 18th century. Outside on the front of the choir next to the pointed arch window there is a crucifix with a corpus from the 18th century under a small protective roof.

The three arched windows in the nave show images of St. Elisabeth, the Holy Family and St. Donatus.
