The Catholic Chapel of St. Blasius is a listed church building in Sellinghausen , a district of Schmallenberg in the Hochsauerlandkreis ( North Rhine-Westphalia ).

history

High altar

The listed St. Blasius Chapel was built in the 1880s on a square in the center of the town donated by the residents. Many residents took part in the construction work or made donations for the chapel . The building blocks came from the surrounding quarries. The chapel was inaugurated on July 5, 1887 by the Dorlar priest Schoene.

The high altar with portraits of St. Mary comes from the Reister parish church of St. Pankratius . It had previously stood there as a side altar since 1701. In 1989 the Taunusstein master carpenter Leo Hermann donated the new celebration altar.

The building has been renovated several times over the past 100 years. In 2008, the center of the village around the chapel was redesigned as part of a village renewal measure.
