St. Breock Church

St. Breock (also: St. Briocus) is an Anglican parish church of the Church of England in the small town of the same name west of Wadebridge in Cornwall . The church has been classified as a Grade II cultural monument since 1969 .

history

The church was consecrated in 1259. It is dedicated to Saint Brieuc, the first bishop of Saint-Brieuc in Brittany . The church was initially built as a single-nave building with a northern transept, nave and choir merging into one another. The six-bay south aisle was probably added in the 15th century. A major restoration of the church took place in 1677. The southern transept may also date from this period. The church has vestibules in the north and south; the main entrance is via the northern one. The church was renovated in 1881 and 1966 after a severe flooding in 1965.
