St. Cyriac

The listed Lutheran village church St. Cyriac in the district is Gellershausen the city Heldburg in Hildburghausen in Thuringia .

The medieval predecessor church was set on fire in 1645 at the end of the Thirty Years War by withdrawing soldiers and largely destroyed except for the church tower .

The current church was built in 1700. In the basement of the tower there are buildings dating back to 1557. The Baroque organ is probably the work of the organ builder Johann Christian Dotzauer .
