The listed Evangelical-Lutheran village church Schlechtsart is in the community of Schlechtsart in the Hildburghausen district in Thuringia .

history

The church was built in the 17th century on the site of an earlier church, using ancient building material and on October 10, 1606 inaugurated .

description

The half-timbered tower that rises above the choir is striking . It still represents the Romanesque style epoch and is probably part of its predecessor. It also has a barrel vault and lancet windows on the south side . The altar stands in front of the round-arched triumphal arch , which with its two battlements can also be classified in the Romanesque period.

Next door is the sacristy , built in 1999 . The heated new parish room inside serves as a winter church .

The organ from 1856 to 1860 was built by the organ builder Michael Schmidt from Schmiedefeld . It was restored in 2009 by the organ builder Stegmüller from Berlin.

The prospect pipes were removed for war purposes and are still missing today, as are the bells .
