St. Elisabeth

The Roman Catholic Church of St. Elisabeth in Sondershausen on Elisabethplatz is the center of the city's Catholic parish and with the affiliated communities of the cities of Greußen and Bad Frankenhausen in the Kyffhäuserkreis in Thuringia .

history

The church, built in 1908, is assigned to the diocese of Erfurt and the dean's office in Nordhausen . The church and the adjoining parish hall have been renovated and restored.

In 1941 the sculptor Otto Zirnbauer created the wooden sculpture St. Elisabeth for the church.

Because of its sonorous organ , the church is also frequented by concerts . It is also a meeting point for the ecumenical church choir and a children's facility for religious instruction .
