St. Godeberti (also: St. Godoberti or Wissmannkirche ) is a baroque village church in Bebertal I (formerly Alvensleben), a district of the municipality of Hohe Börde in the Börde district in Saxony-Anhalt . The church is located on the ring road within the village directly on the B 245 . The name is a special spelling of St. Godehard .

architecture

The 1697 than Gutskirche over a rectangle built building with a roof turret was restored late 19th century. The north side facing the street is designed as a front side with two symmetrically arranged rectangular portals (with donor inscription in between) and two rows of windows (large arched windows over transverse oval openings).

Inside there is a two-storey wooden gallery on rectangular posts, to the east an altar pulpit inserted between monumental Corinthian columns . This is crowned by a highly oval framed Ecce Homo painting and flanked by angels. The pulpit is richly decorated with vegetable carving (dating: 1698). The stalls are octagonal centered. An inscription on a baptismal angel , which is recognized across the region and seems to float freely in the church, refers to the year 1700. The white marble bust of the deceased is integrated into the epitaph of the founder of the church, Herrmann Wissmann († 1717).

About 200 meters north of the village church is the bell tower on a hill, which supposedly belonged to the church of a calendar brotherhood . location

Current usage

The Förderverein Dorfkirche Bebertal eV established the church as a cyclist's church on the Elbe-Aller Cycle Path , which opened in 2008 and connects the Elbe Cycle Path and the Aller Cycle Path .
