St. Jakob (Rauschwitz)
The village church of St. Jakob is in the municipality of Rauschwitz in the Saale-Holzland district in Thuringia . It belongs to the parish in Burgel Kirchenkreis Eisenberg of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .
location
The church is located on the northern edge of the village on a slope sloping to the south. To the east, the connecting road from Camburg to Spy passes by.
history
The single-nave church with a retracted square choir tower and an octagonal slate-faced tower was built in the 19th century on the foundation walls of the previous church (church consecrated September 8, 1850).
Inside there are three-sided galleries . The ceiling is painted with an Art Nouveau ornament that was created during a renovation in 1900 and shows the Christian symbols of the cross, chalice and palm branch. The organ was built in 1850 by Johann Gottlieb Poppe from Altenburg .
