St. James

The listed Lutheran village church of St. James is in the district Schönbrunn the community Schleusegrund in Hildburghausen in Thuringia .

In the middle of the 15th century there was a chapel in the center of the town . It was extended to the present church around 1490 .

The altar and the crucifix on it, as well as the baptismal font, date from the 20th century.

The organ from 1785 was made by the Wagner workshop. In 1880 it was rebuilt by the organ builder Michael Schmidt from Schmiedefeld, and in 1955 it was re- baroque again by the Böhm company . A comprehensive restoration was carried out by Rösel & Hercher between 2000 and 2003 .
