St. Johann (Prad)

St. Johann is a church on the edge of Prad am Stilfserjoch . It was built by the Counts of Tschengelsberg at the end of the 13th century in Romanesque style with a recessed round apse and flat ceiling in the nave and is under the patronage of the evangelists John and John the Baptist .

Remains of Romanesque frescoes can be seen on the north wall of the nave and paintings from the Vinschgau painting school around 1420 in the apse .

  • Romanesque and Gothic frescoes
  • the gallery from around 1600
  • the baroque wooden ceiling

graveyard

Except for one last grave, the cemetery has been abandoned. The bones of Hermann Müller , who died on a research trip in Prad and was buried here as a Protestant Christian, rest in this grave .
