The Catholic Chapel of St. Johann Nepomuk is a monument near the Plankmühle in Schmiechen in the Aichach-Friedberg district .

During a restoration of the chapel in 1985/86, the remains of a previous Baroque chapel were found. The current building was erected in the first half of the 19th century. The small rectangular building has a gable roof with corner volutes . Above the entrance there is a painting of Maria Kappel's miraculous image on sheet metal. The figure of St. Johann Nepomuk , among other things the patron saint of the millers , was created around 1740/50 and was probably taken over from the previous building.

According to a legend , the chapel was built by Joseph Völk, who owned the nearby Plankmühle from 1818 to 1846, out of gratitude. The miller was attacked by robbers at this point , but his dog, which was summoned, was able to run away. The existence of the previous building, however, speaks against this tradition.
