Sankt Johann am Pressen is a village and cadastral municipality of the market town of Hüttenberg in Carinthia with 109 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020).

The small place is very isolated on a hilltop at 1250  m above sea level. A. Elevation above the Mosinz valley. The townscape is characterized by agriculture, especially cattle farming. In the long term, due to the isolated location, a steady population decrease has been recorded. The number of houses decreased from 89 to 72 between 1869 and 1971.

The Romanesque church of St. Johann was built in 1130 by the Salzburg ministerial and cleric Rudbert. Several Roman inscription stones in the church wall indicate an early settlement and show that there was mining here as early as late antiquity . There are also some tombstones of noble families at the cemetery.

The Austrian politician and resistance fighter Paula Wallisch was born on June 7, 1893 in St. Johann.
