Daniela Rocca
Daniela Rocca (born September 12, 1937 in Catania , † May 28, 1995 in Milo ) was an Italian actress .
Life
The artist, who comes from Sicily, won a beauty contest at the age of 19 that attracted the attention of producers from the Italian film stronghold of Cinecittà . A year later Rocca made her feature film debut with Mercanti di Donne . Her starring role in the comedy Divorce in Italian with Marcello Mastroianni made her a sought-after star in Italian films and a sex symbol . The actress worked on other productions with the director of the film, Pietro Germi , with whom she began an affair.
When the relationship finally threatened to fail after a jealous drama in 1964, Rocca attempted suicide, which ended her career and which was followed by therapies and treatments in various sanatoriums over a period of more than ten years.
After a few attempts as a writer and director (e.g. Il peso del corpo ; she also wrote the screenplay for it), she finally withdrew from the public eye. She lived in a home until her death and wrote poetry, some of which she published.
