action

Shortly after the Trojan War. The herculean strong Glauco sails with Pirro as bodyguard with a merchant ship to a mysterious island, where they want to find a treasure. This plan works initially; but then they are overwhelmed by Amazons who regard the men as a safeguard for the future and who then want to kill them. Two aspirants to the royal throne, Antiope and Melitta, however, fall in love with Glauco and Pirro, who also assist the Amazons in the fight against the pirate gang who want the royal collection of valuable objects for themselves and invade the island. The attack is repulsed; the Amazons can be convinced that men can also be rulers.

criticism

“We find ourselves confronted with a real rogue here,” said Bertrand Tavernier . "The gags are as numerous as in an average Tashlin movie, [...] Glauco is wonderfully embodied by Ed Fury, with a radiantly stupid face," and he concludes: "The film brings together the best of the successful comedians." Less impressed was the lexicon of international films : "As a parody of the series products of the" Ursus-Maciste-Hercules series ", which, however, always contain a parody of themselves, so that there is hardly any amusement given the ambiguous personalities." Hahn / Jansen, Stresau drew a completely different conclusion : "Women, one should think, are not even able to govern themselves".
