St. Joseph Church

The Catholic parish church of St. Joseph in Düsseldorf-Holthausen is a neo-Gothic church built from 1905 by Wilhelm Sültenfuß with outer walls made of exposed bricks .

Holthausen was a rural community until 1872 and belonged to the parish of Itter . Due to the industrialization, especially the settlement of Henkel , the population grew rapidly towards the end of the 19th century. The foundation stone for the church was laid in 1904 immediately next to the factory halls. In 1905 the choir and transept were built. The second construction phase followed in 1913, during which the nave was built in particular. A special feature of the church is that it was built without a tower. The bells are in a roof turret . The church was restored from 1976 to 1979, followed by a further preservation in the 1990s.

The parish of the same name belongs to the pastoral care unit of Düsseldorfer Rheinbogen.
