Wilhelm Sültenfuß (born August 24, 1844 in Kaiserswerth near Düsseldorf , † October 17, 1924 in Düsseldorf) was a German architect of historicism .

Life

Wilhelm Sültenfuß appeared primarily as a Catholic church builder. His main works, churches in neo-Gothic and neo-Romanesque forms , were mainly created in the decade from 1900 to 1910 in Düsseldorf.

His son, who was involved in the planning of several projects, is the architect Paul Sültenfuß , born in Königsborn in 1872 , where Wilhelm Sültenfuß was the technical director of the Königsborn saltworks at the time . In 1882 Sültenfuß was commissioned to design the baths in Bad Hamm .

In 1887 Wilhelm Sültenfuß founded the Hannoversche Kunstanstalt für Lichtdruck in Hanover .

According to documents in the Düsseldorf City Archives, Sültenfuß was to be awarded an honor in 1910 at the suggestion of the regional council, such as the award of a professor's title, which, however, never seems to have come about. In this context, a vita was written: “The first independent work of importance is the design and implementation of the Mellin Foundation with church for both denominations in Werl . After its completion, he became a master builder and technical director of the Königsborn trade union near Unna , took care of the new buildings for all of the thermal baths in Königsborn and the city of Hamm , as well as the over 20 km long pipes from the Werries thermal spring through the city of Hamm to Unna-Königsborn the mechanical buildings, as well as salt works, buildings above ground of the Koenigsborn colliery and workers' apartments. At the same time, he designed and managed school buildings for the Unna-Camen , Unna-Königsborn and Unna offices , as well as churches in Unna and Lünen , for both denominations, several villas, commercial buildings and the largest estate in Cattle near Hamm. After he had voluntarily given up his activity at the Königsborn union, he continued his studies at the universities there in Hanover and Vienna . […] Of patriotic sentiments loyal to the king, he professes himself politically as a supporter of the Center Party without, however, particularly prominent. "
