St. Sebastian (Hülchrath)
The Roman Catholic parish church of St. Sebastian is a listed church building on Sebastianusplatz in the town of Hülchrath , a district of Grevenbroich in the Rhine district of Neuss ( North Rhine-Westphalia ).
History and architecture
The neo-Romanesque basilica with a side choir tower was built from tuff stone from 1911 to 1912 according to plans by Wilhelm and Paul Sültenfuß . The lead glass windows in the choir and in the side aisles date from the construction period. The mosaics in the choir were made between 1929 and 1932. The neo-Romanesque furnishings have largely been preserved. The organ and the high altar were installed in 1928. The 12th century copy of an enthroned Mother of God made of wood is remarkable . The original is kept in the Clemens Sels Museum in Neuss.
organ
In January 2019, the new organ was consecrated after years of donation by the organ building association. The previous organ was dismantled in 2015 and sold to Stettin (Poland). Since the church was extensively renovated in 2016, a temporary organ was dispensed with.
Both the key action and the key action are fully mechanical.
