St. Kiliani (Mühlhausen)
St. Kiliani in Mühlhausen , Thuringia, is one of the city's oldest church buildings . Today it serves as a venue for a theater.
history
St. Kiliani was mentioned in writing for the first time in 1250 and was subordinated to the Teutonic Order as a subsidiary church of St. Blasii before 1287 . It was damaged several times in city fires. The church had stood empty since the 1960s and was used as a warehouse for an automobile workshop.
After 1990 the church was converted into a venue for the 3K theater workshop.
Todays use
The church is run by the Kilianikirche Foundation for Art and Culture in Mühlhausen / Thuringia. The aim of the foundation is to promote art, culture, cultural education and upbringing in the Unstrut-Hainich district and to keep a theater venue available.
