List of churches in Mühlhausen

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This article lists all church buildings in Mühlhausen in Thuringia .

In the late Middle Ages, the Free and Imperial City with around 10,000 inhabitants was the second largest city in the Thuringian region after Erfurt . In addition, there were easily accessible deposits of travertine in its vicinity , which, due to its low density, was particularly suitable for building large and high churches. During the Gothic period , an unusually large number of churches were built in Mühlhausen, eleven of which have survived to this day.
