Windeberg is a district of the district town of Mühlhausen / Thuringia in the Unstrut-Hainich district with 250 inhabitants.
geography
Windeberg is on the edge of the southern roof of the Dün at the transition to the Thuringian Basin , six kilometers northeast of the core city of Mühlhausen. To the south is the Forstberg ( 395 m above sea level ) and to the west is the NSG Flachstal . There is a traffic connection via the state roads 1016 and 2041.
history
The first documentary mention of the place took place on August 29, 1296. For centuries it was part of the sphere of influence of the Free and Imperial City of Mühlhausen . In 1565 there was a population of 45 in Windeberg. In 1750 large parts of the village, including the village church, fell victim to a fire.
In 1802 Windeberg fell together with Mühlhausen to the Kingdom of Prussia , from 1807 to 1813 to the Kingdom of Westphalia ( Canton Dachrieden ) created by Napoleon , and after the Congress of Vienna in 1816 it was assigned to the district of Mühlhausen in the Prussian province of Saxony .
On June 1, 1992 it was incorporated into Mühlhausen.
