history
Large and small graves were first mentioned in a document on July 17, 997. On June 4, 1300, Landgrave Friedrich zu Thuringia sold the village together with Bollstedt and Höngeda to the Free and Imperial City of Mühlhausen . In 1565 there were 58 men in Wester-Grabe (large grave ) and 42 men in Oster-Grabe (small grave ).
In 1802 the large and small graves fell together with Mühlhausen to the Kingdom of Prussia , from 1807 to 1813 to the Kingdom of Westphalia ( Canton Dachrieden ) created by Napoleon and were assigned to the district of Mühlhausen in the Prussian province of Saxony after the Congress of Vienna in 1816 . The communities Großgrabe and Kleingrabe were merged in 1965 to form the community Grabe.
The place, which has always been dominated by agriculture, found new forms of ownership for work in the countryside after 1990. The connection to the city is further strengthened with equestrian sport.
On June 30, 1994 Grabe was integrated into the new municipality of Weinbergen . On January 1, 2019, vineyards were incorporated into Mühlhausen / Thuringia.
