St. Lantpert is a Catholic church at Torquato-Tasso-Straße 40 in the Milbertshofen district of Munich . It belongs to the Archdiocese of Munich-Freising and the Parish Association of Milbertshofen. The patron saint is St. Lantpert, Bishop of Freising .

building

The church, the parsonage and the parsonage were built in 1957 and 1958 according to plans by architect Wilhelm Gaertner from Munich. The mighty tower characterizes the building. It contains the square choir / chancel with 10 × 10 m. The square nave with 22 × 22 m, the chapel, the sacristy and an extension of the choir through a choir side room are grouped around the tower. In addition to the church, the rectory, the rectory and a rectory garden are part of the overall complex. In September 1998 the parish hall was closed for fire protection reasons. The new parsonage, built according to the plans of the architect Franz Kießling, was inaugurated in March 2003.

history

Its beginnings go back to 1952. As a result of the economic upswing after the currency reform and the building activity that started with it in the north of Munich, it became necessary to set up a new pastoral care office in the area between Milbertshofen, Am Hart, Alte Heide and Schwabing.

The foundation stone was laid on October 20, 1957. This year the Archdiocese of Munich-Freising celebrated the 1000th anniversary of the death of St. Lantpert, the 13th Bishop of Freising. He was chosen to be the patron of the community.

On July 1, 1958, Archbishop Josef Cardinal Wendel established the independent pastoral care office, the Catholic Parish Curatia St. Lantpert. Curate and later first pastor of the parish was the chaplain in St. Georg Milbertshofen, Georg Graßl (until 1988). The church was consecrated by Auxiliary Bishop Johannes Neuhäusler on September 14, 1958. Three and a half years later, on January 1, 1962, Archbishop Julius Cardinal Döpfner elevated the curate to the status of a city parish .

Since October 1st, 2013 St. Lantpert belongs to the parish association Milbertshofen, together with St. Georg.
