The church

The Protestant village church of St. Laurentius is located in the Burgwend part of the city of Kölleda in the Sömmerda district in Thuringia .

history

There is evidence that the church was added to the steeple in 1562 as part of a structural change . The image of St. Lawrence was placed in the wall.

architecture

The single-nave church building with a retracted Romanesque square choir has a Romanesque gable field on the south side and remains from the time of construction in the masonry on the north side. The outer walls of the tower and nave are made of natural stone .

The organ from the 18th century is currently not playable.

The church today

The parish received help from the KiBa Foundation for the restoration of the church in 2011. The tower roof was re-covered, the sponge infestation was fought and the church roof was weatherproof.
