description

building

The church in the walled churchyard of the village is an originally Romanesque choir tower church with a retracted semicircular apse .

According to a building inscription above the north door, the tower was added in 1656 to the south-east corner of the nave. It has a half-timbered upper floor and above it a slated tail hood. The sacristy with the remains of a decorative painting from the post-Reformation period and a nave ceiling is located on the tower ground floor.

In 1710 the building was renovated and extended. The north wall of the church was rebuilt in 1791 during repair work. A complete restoration took place in 1894. A window in the south wall of the choir tower and the arch in the apse have been preserved from the original building; they probably date from the 12th century. The approach to the south wall is also dated to this time.

Interior and equipment

The interior of the church was designed and furnished in 1791. It has a wooden barrel ceiling and a two-storey horseshoe gallery. The ruling class is also two-story. It is glazed in the upper part and accessible from the outside. The pulpit altar was renewed between 1987 and 1989 and has a free figure of the risen Christ. The church organ dates from 1881.

Others

The bronze bell was cast by the Ulrich brothers in Laucha / Apolda in 1777. In the parish garden there is a monolithic late-Gothic sacrament niche from the church.
