St. Margareta

The parish church of St. Margareta is a Roman Catholic church building in Markt Leuchtenberg in the Upper Palatinate .

history

The church was consecrated in 1124 by Bishop Otto von Bamberg together with the Church of St. Johannes Baptist von Altenstadt on his first missionary trip to Pomerania ( Duas ecclesias unam in Luckenberge et alterem in Vohendreze consecravit. ). After most of the old church fell victim to a fire in 1842, it was rebuilt using parts of the choir room. In 1885, restoration work began on the interior, the renewal of the main and two side altars as well as the pulpit and the whitewashing of the presbytery . In 1914 three altars were purchased from Egglkofen. In 1950 the interior and exterior of the church were restored. In the course of an exterior renovation, the church windows and the roof were renewed.
