St. Margaretha (Salach)

The St. Margaretha Church is a Roman Catholic parish church in Salach . Next to her there is the older Protestant Margaret Church in the village . The patron saint of the church is Margaret of Antioch . The building is listed as a cultural monument.

history

Today's Protestant St. Margaret's Church ( 48 ° 41 ′ 35 ″ N, 9 ° 44 ′ 29 ″ E ) has been used by both denominations since 1655.

After the number of Catholic believers had risen sharply, it was decided at the end of the 19th century to build a new Catholic church. It was built in the neo-Romanesque style by Ulrich Pohlhammer and consecrated on August 24, 1905 by the Rottenburg bishop Paul Wilhelm von Keppler .

In the years 1955 and from 2016 to 2017 extensive redesigns and renovations took place.

organ

The former organ was probably a used instrument made by the Ludwigsburg organ builder Walcker . A new instrument by the organ builder Eduard Wiedenmann from Oberessendorf was installed in 2018.
