St. Margarethen

The mountain church of St. Margarethen was first mentioned in a document in 1445, but it must have existed as a chapel earlier. It is located on a hill in the district of the same name in the municipality of Brannenburg , surrounded by old farmsteads that were probably built between 1000 and 1100. Major renovations were carried out in 1654, the late Gothic winged altar was replaced in 1732 and supplemented in 1755. The cemetery houses the graves and plaques of famous people. The St. Margarethen branch church belongs to the Flintsbach church district .

The church, the cemetery, the cemetery wall with the two gates and the ossuary are under monument protection and are entered in the Bavarian monument list under the file number D-1-87-120-50 .

Others

Several scenes were created at the cemetery for the film Who dies earlier is dead longer by Marcus H. Rosenmüller . However, access to the cemetery with the linden tree, the figure of the painful Mother of God and the stairs is at the mountain cemetery in Ruhpolding .
