St. Marien (Fröndenberg)
The Catholic parish church of St. Marien is a listed church building on Sodenkamp 16 in Fröndenberg in the Unna district ( North Rhine-Westphalia ).
History and architecture
The neo-Gothic , partially plastered brick building with a transept, polygonal apse and a high west tower was built as a hall church by Gerhard Franz Langenberg from 1893 to 1896 . After severe damage in the Second World War , the building was renovated as a wall pillar hall from 1949 to 1955 . An extensive renovation was carried out in 2005/06, during which the room setting was also renewed. High, busted pointed barrel compartments rest on wide belts and, in some cases, multi-stepped pointed arch openings.
Furnishing
- The gilded altar tabernacle made of copper is from around 1350.
- In the tower-like tracery canopy on a base with lion feet is a copy of the Werler miraculous image . The side doors in the form of finely divided tracery windows can be opened
- Two wooden candlesticks were made in the middle of the 15th century.
organ
The new organ has been playing in the church since 2017. The instrument consists partly of the material of a late Romantic predisposed organ, which in 1898 by the organ workshop Dinse ( Kreuzberg ) for the St. Afra Church in Berlin-Gesundbrunnen was built. The 15 registers of this instrument were supplemented by 17 other (mostly used) registers. The new organ has 32 sounding registers. The reconstruction was carried out by the company Krawinkel (Höxter).
The console has three manuals (coupling manual, main unit, swell unit). There are also sub and super couplers from the third to the first manual and a super coupler from the swell to the pedal.
