St. Mary's Church

The Roman Catholic parish church of St. Marien on Allmendstrasse in Solothurn was built according to plans by the architect Josef Schütz. The building that defines the townscape was built in 1954.

description

In order not to make the church, which was consciously based on the Olten Church of St. Mary by the architect Baur, appear as a mere copy, not all components and details were taken over 1: 1 from the Olten building.

In 1963 the tower was equipped with five bells by the Bachert brothers from Karlsruhe . The chimes sound in a minor / major motif in the notes B °, des ', es', f 'as'.

The altar is one of the main works by Albert Paul Schilling . It is also very similar to that of the Marienkirche in Olten, which is also by Schilling.

The organ was built in 1971 by Graf Orgelbau, Sursee. It comprises 37 registers on three manuals and a pedal .
