Catholic Church of St. Martin

St. Martin is the Roman Catholic parish church in the Palatinate village of Waldsee and the center of the parish of the same name . The building stands on the edge of the Hochgestades above the Rhine lowlands .

The church at Kirchstrasse 16 was built in 1842/43 according to plans by architect August von Voit as a neo-Romanesque red sandstone hall building and is a listed building .

Surroundings

In front of the building there is a statue of the patron saint of the church, St. Martin of Tour , in a small green area , who is represented with his attribute, a goose. There a plaque commemorates the priests of the parish. The bronze statue of the saint was created by Franz Müller-Steinfurth.

To the south of the statue is the Elisabethenhaus for Catholic women, the front of which is decorated with a statue of St. Elisabeth.

To the south of the church are the rectory and parish center.

In the east below the church, already in the Rhine valley, is the St. Martin kindergarten belonging to the parish.

A small Lourdes grotto was built on the lawn behind the east side of the church .
