Herbert Dellwing
Herbert Dellwing (* 1940 in Großauheim am Main; † December 31, 2010 in Speyer ) was a German art historian and monument conservator . Herbert Dellwing lived and worked in Speyer and Neustadt on the Weinstrasse .
Life and work
Herbert Dellwing studied art history from 1960 at the Art History Institute of the University of Frankfurt am Main . From 1964 to 1974 he conducted research in Italy ( Venice , Florence). In 1967 he received his doctorate in art history with a thesis on the architecture of the mendicant orders in Veneto at the University of Frankfurt. From 1975 he worked as a curator in the State Office for the Preservation of Monuments in Rhineland-Palatinate in Speyer and Mainz .
In 1979 he completed his habilitation and began teaching at the University of Frankfurt. From 1983 he taught art history at the University of Mainz and since 1987 at the Saarland University in Saarbrücken . Since 1991 he has been teaching as an adjunct professor for art history at the Art History Institute of the University of Frankfurt am Main .
From 1991 Herbert Dellwing was a board member of the Kunstverein Speyer and curator of exhibitions on contemporary art. Herbert Dellwing built up a collection on German Informel since 1948.
