The parish church of St. Martin is a Roman Catholic parish church in the municipality of Pullenreuth in the Upper Palatinate district of Tirschenreuth .

The Martinskirche , a hall church, is a monument in the center of the village and is visible from afar thanks to its location on a hill.

history

The first church in Pullenreuth was probably already in the 11th century. This medieval church was destroyed by the Hussites around 1453 and was probably rebuilt in 1505. During the Thirty Years' War , the church suffered considerable damage, so that the pastor at the time described it as the "poorest on the road to Nuremberg". In 1668 Pullenreuth became its own parish. In 1738 Pastor Johann Friedrich Forster turned to the electoral government in Amberg for help , but to no avail. On March 9, 1749, during the service, the faithful heard a crack in the masonry and stormed out of the church, fearing that it might collapse. The people on the gallery even escaped from the windows. A few days later, the church actually collapsed. As a result of this event, funds were finally released so that the church could be demolished in April 1749. On August 14, 1749 work began on the new building, which was completed in 1751. However, there were no benches, high altar or floor covering. In 1769 a high altar was bought. Smaller renovations (restoration of the artistic ceiling paintings, etc.) took place later.

Today it is a new building from 1749 under master builder Georg Diller. The ceiling fresco in the choir vault was made by Johann Gebhard and his son Otto.
