St. Martin (Weihmörting)
The Roman Catholic parish church of St. Martin is a late Gothic, neo-Gothic extended hall church in the Weihmörting district of Rotthalmünster in the Lower Bavarian district of Passau . It belongs to the Rotthalmünster parish association in the Pocking deanery of the Passau diocese .
History and architecture
The parish Weihmörting was formerly the mother church for the parishes Bayerbach, Safferstetten, Schönburg and Würding. It is attested to the year 1140 and was ceded to the Mondsee Monastery in 1194 . The church was originally a single-nave structure, the choir vaults of the early 15th century and the central nave vaults of the late 15th century. The core of the masonry of the building is older. In 1852 the church was extended by two bays and side aisles were added, so that the building is now a stepped hall . In 1851 the tower was raised. The one-yoke choir ends in a five -eighth ending . The ribs of the vault develop from console-supported service pieces . The central nave is lower and wider than the choir. In the four eastern bays the original star vaults over semicircular services, which are presented to the shield arch positions , are still present. The neo-Gothic parts were designed in the style of the late-Gothic parts.
Furnishing
Several carved figures from the late Middle Ages with remains of original versions have been preserved, including a Madonna from around 1500 and figures of Saints Nicholas , Florian , Johannes Evangelista and Peter from 1510/1520. The Salvator figure was created at the same time . A valuable painting from the Baroque period from the beginning of the 18th century shows Saint Martin in contemporary equestrian costume.
The organ is a work by Michael Weise from 1973 with 16 stops on two manuals and pedal .
