The church

The Protestant village church of St. Nicolai is located in the Silkerode district of the Sonnenstein rural community in the Eichsfeld district in Thuringia .

history

On February 6, 1819, the Prussian state ordered the church to be rebuilt. Nothing has been handed down about the previous church. The first baptism took place in the new church on December 7th .

The organ was built by Carl Giesecke in 1856 , the bell house in 1885. In 1907, citizens donated a church clock and a chandelier . The interior of the 18 × 12 × 9 meter nave was renovated in 1914. In 1917 the big bell was melted down for war purposes. The electrical installation took place in 1925.
