history

The small Baroque Roman Catholic Church of St. Nicholas, dating from 1780, was demolished in 1867 and construction of a new church began. The 42 meter long, 13 meter wide and 13.5 meter high building and the 48 meter high tower were designed by the Franzensbad architect Wiedermann. The church, which cost 53,675 gulden, was inaugurated on September 24, 1872 by Friedrich zu Schwarzenberg .

The church received new church bells from Budweis in 1922; the original bells had been melted down during the First World War . In addition to four confessionals , the pulpit and the baptismal font, there are 14 pictures of the Cross , 6 sculptures and a statue of the Virgin Mary with the baby Jesus inside . In 2008/09 the church received a repair of the roof.
