St. Nikolaus (Cobbenrode)
The parish church of St. Nikolaus is a characteristic church building in Cobbenrode , a district of Eslohe in the Hochsauerlandkreis ( North Rhine-Westphalia ).
The parish church was built in 1931 according to the plans of the architect Karl Wibbe on the foundations of earlier church buildings. The previous building was consecrated in 1708. The new building is a typical regional building with white plastered walls and a roof made of slate. The tower is set. The wide central nave is flanked by two six-bay side aisles. There is a gallery above the side sacristy. The choir rounding in the 7/12 end is opposite the tower, which is flanked by side chapels. The light vaults develop from ogival arcades. The wall of the choir is divided by three-part side windows, the cheeks of which protrude inward. In the left aisle, the walls of which are characterized by glass pictures by JH Evers, there is a gallery under which the main entrance is located. The high gable roof is rounded on the choir side, the ridge runs against the spire. The buttresses of the low outer walls of the side aisles lead the roof optically down to the floor.
