St. Nikolaus (Mötsch)
The Catholic branch church St. Nikolaus is located in the Bitburg district of Mötsch and is a broad plastered building .
The nave , built in 1786, was supplemented in 1922 by a transept designed by the architect Eduard Endler with a crossing and a choir closing on three sides . The west tower from the late Middle Ages is four-story and has Gothic features due to its coupled sound windows . In the 19th century, a stone cornice with ornaments and a slate helmet were added. The flat ceilings of the aisles are held in place by iron supports. The stations of the cross and the pews date from 1922. The remains of the columned altar built in 1786 can be found on the eastern outer wall of the church. A round-arched relief plate , framed by Hermen pilasters , is adorned with a crucifixion scene with the donor at his feet, under which an inscription plaque is attached.
The church is located in the middle of a church courtyard, the north side of which is the location of a churchyard cross placed in front of the wall. A grave monument from the end of the 19th century stands next to it. A grave cross was erected on the south side of the church in 1880.
