The parish church of St. Nikolaus is the Catholic parish church of Wippenhausen (Upper Bavaria).

history

According to tradition, the first parish church in Wippenhausen was built around 734 AD and consecrated by Bishop Ermbert in the same year . Church patron is St. Nicholas of Myra . In 1707 the consecration of the church was repeated by Bishop Johann Franz Eckher after repairs and expansion .

The church was expanded several times until it reached its present size. At the end of the 17th century, the old tower was partially demolished and the church was given a pointed tower. The last renovation of the church was in 1976/1977. During this renovation the church got a popular altar . Inside the church is decorated with many murals.

The parish church of St. Nikolaus has branch churches in Burghausen and Oberberghausen .
