St. Peter and Paul (location)
St. Peter and Paul is a Roman Catholic parish church in Lage in the district of Lippe , North Rhine-Westphalia . Church and parish belong to the Lippe-West pastoral network of the Bielefeld-Lippe dean's office in the Archdiocese of Paderborn .
history
A Catholic church was built in Lage as early as 1897/98, which in the 1950s no longer met the spatial requirements. In 1958/59, today's St. Peter and Paul Church was built according to plans by Aloys Sonntag . The old church building has been used as an event room since then.
architecture
The church has a single nave under a gable roof . Eight concrete columns on each of the long sides support the building; the fields in between are plastered white. The rectangular tower, the roof surface of which is rounded, stands slightly apart and forms a forecourt with the rectory.
The gable walls are divided into three parts inside the church. Concrete honeycombs with red, blue and white glasses are incorporated on the portal side. There are also concrete honeycombs on the side of the altar. The ceiling is boarded within the load-bearing concrete structure.
Furnishing
Much of the equipment comes from Josef Jost . The glass windows on the long sides of the church, the crucifixion image on the altar wall and the tabernacle are from him . The flooring and the Way of the Cross by Franz Guntermann have been preserved from the original furnishings of the church .
