St. Pius is a Catholic branch church in the Nördlingen district of Löpsingen . It is located in the new development area on the south-eastern outskirts of the village and faces east with the altar area .

The simple building with the asymmetrical roof shape, which is drawn far down on the north side, blends in well with the surroundings of the new residential area. As in early Christian times, the simple 24 m high tower with the steeply towering tent roof and its two bells stands somewhat offset on the north side of the church.

The colored glass windows on the south side come into their own thanks to the deliberately very light walls.

The east and west gables of the church are loosened up by the two gable crosses made of colored glass.

The main portal bears the motto of Pius X : "Renew everything in Christ".

History of origin

In 1524, at the instigation of Karl Wolfgang von Oettingen, the Cistercian women from Klosterzimmer turned to Martin Luther's new teaching and from there the Reformation ideas soon found their way into and willingly accepted in Löpsingen. Only in 1538 was Löpsingen fully Protestant .

After the Second World War there was a large influx of expellees from the German eastern regions, especially from the Sudetenland , Silesia and East Prussia , who were predominantly Catholic. The Protestant parish made the kindergarten available to them for their services.

This gave rise to the desire for their own place of worship, which was put into practice with the groundbreaking ceremony on June 1, 1964. The consecration of the church took place on August 28, 1965 the name of Pope Pius X .
