Löpsingen is a district of Nördlingen in the Swabian district of Donau-Ries in Bavaria . The place has 1054 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011) and is located almost in the center of the Nördlinger Ries .

history

Löpsingen was first mentioned by name in the list of goods of the Fulda monastery from the 8th century.

Through Bishop Heinrich II of Augsburg (1047 to 1063) goods in Löpsingen came to the episcopal church in Augsburg around the middle of the 11th century. Heinrich's successor Embriko turned the episcopal possessions in Löpsingen to his cathedral chapter . The property of the Augsburg cathedral chapter in the place included the Meierhof, 13 Huben and the church set. These possessions were under the rule of the Counts of Oettingen since 1200 at the latest . In the course of time, these succeeded in largely suppressing the influence of the cathedral chapter and in taking control of the village over the entire place. The place was subordinate to the Oberamt Alerheim . In 1806, Löpsingen fell to the Kingdom of Bavaria with the mediatization of the Principality of Oettingen-Wallerstein .

During the Second World War , prisoners from the Kaisheim prison were forced to work in an ammunition factory in Löpsingen.

As part of the municipal reform , Löpsingen was incorporated into the city of Nördlingen on January 1, 1973.

Culture

St. Michael Church

Many groups and associations shape the cultural life of the place, among other things.

Löpsingen has two churches: the Protestant St. Michaelskirche (choir around 1260, nave at the end of the 15th century) and the Catholic parish church of St. Pius (from 1965). While the Protestant Michaelskirche characterizes the town center, St. Pius is located in the new building area on the south-eastern outskirts of Löpsingen.
