Thomas More Church

The St. Thomas More Church is a Catholic church in the Leverkusen district of Schlebusch . It was the seat of the parish of the same name in the pastoral area of ​​Leverkusen Southeast until December 31, 2019 and has been part of the Sankt Andreas parish since January 1, 2020.

history

The groundbreaking ceremony took place on April 12, 1959, and the foundation stone was laid on May 22, 1960. The foundation stone comes from a tomb in the Calixtus catacomb in Rome. The church, built according to plans by the Cologne architect Erwin Schiffer (1927-2001), was consecrated by Auxiliary Bishop Joseph Ferche in July 1962.
