The church in Madelungen

The Evangelical Lutheran Church of St Trinitatis is located in the Madelungen district of the independent city of Eisenach in Thuringia .

history

The church was rebuilt in 1767 in place of its predecessor, the Ulrichskirche, from 1516 in the Baroque style. The financing of the comparatively large church worried the parish and was only completed 20 years after the church was consecrated.

The building was neglected during the GDR era . It was not until 1999 that the interior of the church was repainted with the help of the Messerschmitt Foundation and the interior of the church was extensively restored.

To the church itself

Inside there are galleries on all four sides in the style of the 18th century. There is a rulership, a pulpit and the organ with carvings in the Rococo style. The font dates from 1680. Large windows illuminate the nave, which is decorated in blue and gold tones . In a vault in front of the altar are the bones of the last baron Wilhelm Christoph Diede zum Fürstenstein († 1807).
