St. Valentin (Leimrieth)
The Evangelical Lutheran village church of St. Valentin is located in the Leimrieth district of the city of Hildburghausen in the Hildburghausen district in Thuringia .
The oldest parts of the road from Hildburghausen to Römhild located church , the chancel and nave , go to a building from 1504 back. According to legend, Martin Luther is said to have preached here, which is why it is also referred to as the Luther Church . From 1716 to 1724 the structure was extensively renovated, as indicated by an inscription in the sandstone above the main entrance.
The gothic church roof over the half-timbered tower with a pointed roof turret and tower button with weather vane characterize the exterior. In the basement of the tower is the chancel .
The simple building is adorned with a crucifix from 1500, which was created in Tilman Riemenschneider's workshop . Two galleries are supported by braid-like columns. The posts have an inscription dating back to 1724.
