St. Vitus in Ammern

The Protestant village church of St. Vitus is in the Ammern district of the Unstruttal community in the Unstrut-Hainich district in Thuringia .

history

The Protestant village church in Ammern was built in 1270 as a choir tower church and the core of its nave dates from the Romanesque period . The church tower from this period still has its lancet windows and the crenellated wreath from historicism . Further additions and modifications overlap the epochs. The church was completely renovated again in the 18th century . The last renovation took place after the political change in East Germany between 1998 and 2000 with funds from the German Foundation for Monument Protection . All the damage and defects were tried to eliminate, which should have succeeded with the drainage of the interior through an improved indoor climate.
