St. Vitus is a Roman Catholic parish church in Buhne , a district of Borgentreich in the Höxter district , North Rhine-Westphalia . The St. Sturmius branch church in Muddenhagen also belongs to the parish of St. Vitus . Church and congregation belong to the Borgentreicher Land pastoral association in the Höxter deanery of the Archdiocese of Paderborn .

In a letter to the building authorities in Warburg on February 2, 1822, the Bühn priest Friedrich Hilken indicated that the Bühn parish church was in danger of collapsing. At a meeting of the local council on November 21, 1823, the Spiegel families were obliged to contribute to the construction costs. The construction costs for a new church were on 7261 Rth. 21 Sgr. 2 pfennigs estimated. As early as April 30, 1824, the demolition of the dilapidated nave began, the church tower should be preserved.

After construction began, the altar stone could be set on June 23, 1824. The masonry work was completed on October 1st of that year and the roof was closed on November 10th. In the summer of 1825 the building was plastered and the walls painted, so that the building was completed in November. On July 5, 1826, Oestreicher from Corvey began building the new organ. Auxiliary Bishop Richard Dammers consecrated the church on July 17, 1826 . On the same day he gave Confirmation in the new church.

Building description

The classicist single-nave nave of the hall church measures 33.8 m in length, 15.6 m in width and 9 m in height. Ten arched windows are set in all around, the wooden ceiling is flat.
