The Catholic branch church St. Wolfgang in Rettenbergen a district of the city of Gersthofen in the Swabian district of Augsburg in Bavaria is a protected architectural monument . The church belongs to the parish of St. Martin in the Gersthofen district of Batzenhofen .

history

The oldest part of St. Wolfgang von Regensburg consecrated church forms the north located tower. The three lower, square tower floors date from the early 16th century. After the church fell into disrepair, according to a report from 1575, it was rebuilt in 1675 as a hall with a retracted choir . The tower received a pilaster-structured octagon as a structure. In 1789 today's roof structure was erected and the tower was completed like a lantern . The Gothic windows in the tower are made like loopholes.

Furnishing

The most important furnishings are two wooden reliefs, presumably connected in the past, depicting the fourteen helpers in need. The parts, reduced by three figures, presumably originate from a local artist who possibly created this work around 1510 under the influence of Tilman Riemenschneider, for example .
